Laura Kiss
Executive Director External Relations, WCCC International, Italy

Laura Kiss is the Executive Director of External Relations for World Centers of Compassion for Children International (WCCC), which was founded by Nobel Prize winner Betty Williams. Prior to that Ms Kiss was, from 2004-2011, the President of WCCC Italia-Onlus, an NGO branch of WCCC International.
In Italy, WCCC has established the City of Peace for Refugee Children in the region of Basilicata in southern Italy. That project is on land that the government had planned as European Nuclear Waste Dump. It hosts refugee families from war zones established by World Center of Compassion for Children with the Region of Basilicata, and the financial support of public and private partners.
Areas of interest include human rights, cultural anthropology, ethnology, music, contemporary art and travel and Ms Kiss has previously worked as a journalist where she has travelled around the world reporting on the spread of new technologies. She has also been a blogger for the Huffington Post and is also involved in the conducting journalism training courses.
She speaks Italian, English, German and Spanish and has a Masters degree in literature and languages from the La Sapienza University of Rome.
