Jorge Fernandes is the CEO of MobiBucks, a leading provider of in-mobile marketing and payments. He has extensive knowledge and experience in entrepreneurial start-ups in a wide cross-section of fields.
Mr. Fernandes is a member of the Board of Directors of Intrix Corporation, a leading provider of payment gateways. He is also an Executive Fellow at Santa Clara University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
He was formerly CEO and founder of ViVOtech, a leading provider of NFC payment technology. Before founding ViVOtech, Mr. Fernandes was President and CEO of EmployeeLife.com (now Benefit America), the USA’s premier provider of online employee benefits solutions. He was also the founder of BioLumin, Inc., which designs and manufactures drug discovery instrumentation. During his work with BioLumin, Mr. Fernandes developed five patents in the area of software, robotics, and digital feedback mechanisms.
As part of his senior school project he founded Laser-Tron to provide arcade games to the family entertainment market, which went public in 1994. He received his first patent on a mechanism to differentiate laser beams in a multi-beam, single-target environment.
Mr. Fernandes received his MBA from Santa Clara University and BSEE from San Diego State University.
