Dr. Gurpreet Dhillon

Dr. Gurpreet Dhillon is a Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University; the Executive Director of The Information Institute and an author and Information Security Expert.
He received his scholarly training at the London School of Economics, UK. He has lived and worked in England, Hong Kong, Portugal, India and the US.
In his current role he is engaged in researching various aspects of information security. As an internationally acclaimed researcher, author and speaker he is credited with developing a socio-technical orientation for addressing information security problems. His work has been extended to address issues in anti-money laundering and technology enabled crime. The output of his research has been used in large public and private sector organizations and in drafting various national security policies.
Professor Dhillon has authored seven books and over 100 research papers. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Information System Security. His research has been featured in various academic and commercial publications and his expert comments have appeared in the New York Times, USA Today, Business Week, Knowledge@Wharton and NBC News among others.
