Dr. Abdul Hamid Hallab
Special Advisor to President of American University of Beirut, Lebanon

Dr. Abdul H. Hallab is the Special Advisor to the President of the American University of
Beirut, a position he has held since 1998. He is also a Professor at the University, at which he has been involved since 1968.
Dr. Hallab is also the Vice President of the Board of Directors at the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research. He has held this role since 1992.
He has had a very close working relationship with the Emirate of Sharjah in the UAE, having lead the AUB team for the Establishment of the American University of Sharjah and the University of Sharjah, as well as other universities in the Gulf from 1996-2000. During this time he was the Interim Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah and a Member of its Board of Trustees. He was also a Special Advisor to the Ruler of Sharjah for Higher Education. He is currently a Member of the Board of Trustees at the Manar University and Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees of the American Community School.
Dr. Hallab has published extensively in the field of Food Technology and Nutrition in refereed International Journals. He has established and administered regional programs of training and technical assistance for the public and private sectors in the Middle East.
He was awarded honorary citizenship and golden key to the city of Baton Rouge, USA; the distinguished highest medal in the area of Education by the President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon; and awarded honorary citizenship to Emirate of Sharjah and the Golden key.
Dr. Hallab obtained his BSc, MSc and PhD from the Louisiana State University, USA.
